Er. RADHIKA D
DESHPANDE
Assistant Professor
B.E Civil (RMIT, Badnera) M.Tech (KKW Nashik)
Radhika is a practicing structural engineer with a strong academic and professional foundation. She holds first-class degrees in both Bachelor’s and Master’s programs in Engineering — having completed her undergraduate studies at Prof. Ram Meghe Institute of Technology and Research, Badnera, and her post-graduation at K.K. Wagh Institute of Engineering and Research, Nashik.
At IDEAS, she teaches a wide range of technical subjects integral to architectural education, including Structural Design and Systems, Surveying and Levelling, Estimation and Costing, and Construction Technology and Materials. She brings with her a rich teaching background from her previous roles as an assistant professor at institutions like her master’s alma mater in Nashik, G.H. Raisoni College of Engineering, and Guru Nanak Institute of Technology, Nagpur. There, she taught subjects like Engineering Mechanics, Fluid Mechanics, Civil and Environmental Engineering, Computer Applications, Construction Management and Law, and Strength of Materials — all of which closely support the understanding of structure in architectural practice.
In addition to teaching, she actively works as a structural engineer at NIYOJAN – Architects, Structural Engineers, and Interior Designers, where she engages in structural design for architectural projects and contributes to site supervision. Her dual role in practice and academics makes her teaching particularly relevant and application-oriented, offering students a practical lens into how theory meets execution.
Radhika has also made significant contributions to research in her field. Her master’s thesis on “Performance of Ferro Cement under Elevated Temperatures” was presented at CIVIL PGCON – 2014 and published in the FS 2015 3rd National Convention on Ferrocement. She received the Best Paper Award at NOVUS 2015 – International Conference on Change for Sustainable Business for her work on “Associate Technology, Innovations, and Entrepreneurship in the Housing Sector.” She has also presented at other prominent platforms, including:
“Alternate Building Technologies for Housing” at the International Conference – Research for Resurgence (2015)
“Smart is Sustainable” at the International Conference on Smart City (2018), exploring the synergy between environmental goals and sustainable urban development.
Through her commitment to both teaching and practice, Radhika bridges the technical and architectural realms, helping students gain deeper insight into the structural aspects of design and equipping them to think critically about the built environment.
