ER SONALI

JATTEWAR

Associate Professor

B.E. Civil (COE, Pune)
M.Tech. (RKNEC, Nagpur)

Er. Sonali Jattewar is an engineer by qualification and profession, and an artist at heart. A graduate of the College of Engineering Pune (COEP), Class of 2000, she went on to complete her post-graduation in Geotechnical Engineering from Shri Ramdeobaba Kamla Nehru Engineering College, Nagpur in 2008. Her professional portfolio includes structural design work for several prestigious projects in and around Pune, such as the Serum Institute, cold storages, farmhouses, and multiple high-rise buildings.

She has been an integral part of IDEAS since its inception, teaching Structural Systems with a unique approach that blends technical rigor with architectural relevance. She has also played a key role in framing the university syllabus and curriculum, offering a much-needed and refreshing perspective on the subject in the architectural context.

Her teaching philosophy focuses on bridging the gap between engineering and design. Rather than treating structures as a purely mechanical subject, she emphasizes conceptual understanding and its application in architecture. Her lectures often highlight the deeper connections between structural logic and architectural creativity, ensuring students absorb and integrate the knowledge into their design thinking.

Beyond core teaching, she has also led electives such as Numerical Abilities, where she explores mathematical patterns in nature — a fascinating tool for design inspiration rooted in biology and geometry.

Outside the classroom, Er. Sonali is known for her refined aesthetic sensibility, love for photography, culinary talents, and a deep appreciation for Indian classical music and traditional attire. She is more than an educator — she is a creative force who leads by example, inspiring students not only to build with precision but to live with artistry.
